June 12: Oakland prepares for Warriors parade that’s expected to draw 1 million fans

More than 1 million people are expected to line the route. Again. The weather is expected to be beautiful. Again. Confetti, in a shower of blue and gold, will rain down on the NBA champions. Again.

For the third time in four years, fans in the Bay Area will celebrate the Warriors’ championship victory with a parade through downtown Oakland on Tuesday, creating a massive logistical challenge that has gotten a lot easier with so much practice, city and transit officials said.

“It’s old hat in some ways,” said Justin Berton, spokesman for Mayor Libby Schaaf. “But winning never gets old.”
