First Son Hunter Biden Agrees to Plead Guilty to Federal Tax, Gun Crime Charges

Hunter Biden is expected to plead guilty to two tax misdemeanors as part of a plea agreement.

The president’s son is also expected to admit to illegally possessing a gun in 2018, and that charge will likely be dismissed if he meets certain conditions.

The tax charges stem from his failure to timely file and pay taxes in 2017 and 2018.

Reports say prosecutors plan to recommend a sentence of probation on those counts.

A federal judge in Delaware must approve the deal. Hunter is expected to enter a plea to the charges specified in the agreement at a hearing in U.S. District Court in Wilmington. A hearing has not yet been scheduled.

Hunter Biden has been under federal investigation since 2018. That investigation into his “tax affairs” began amid the discovery of suspicious activity reports (SARs) regarding funds from “China and other foreign nations.”

A statement from the White House spokesman for oversight and investigations to CBS said, “The President and First Lady love their son and support him as he continues to rebuild his life. We will have no further comment.”
