California Lawmakers Call on Insurance Commissioner for Help

The race is on to prevent more insurance companies from leaving California. Thirty-two lawmakers sent a letter to the state’s insurance commissioner this week, saying the market is in chaos.  

They want him to use his power to “set it straight” and require the industry provide adequate and affordable coverage everywhere.  

So far, seven of the top 12 insurance companies, including State Farm and Allstate, have stopped or restricted new homeowner policies.
