CA Bill To Ban Homeless Encampments from Schools, Transit

YouTube, @ABC10.

There’s a new push to ban homeless encampments across California.

The bill aims to keep them 500 feet away from schools, open spaces and major transit stops, and off sidewalks if shelter beds are available.  It would also require cities and counties give 72-hour notice before clearing anyone’s belongings.

The two senators behind the legislation say there’s been a 40-percent rise in people living on the street, topping 181-thousand last year.
