A driverless Waymo car was vandalized and set on fire in Chinatown during Lunar New Year celebrations.

The incident, caught on camera Saturday, involved about a dozen people, with one seen using a skateboard to break windows. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with the car eventually catching fire from a firework thrown inside. Thankfully, no one was injured. Waymo stated that the vehicle wasn’t transporting any riders.

The SFPD is investigating, but no suspects have been identified yet. San Francisco Supervisor Aaron Peskin condemned the act as “totally unacceptable” and expressed hope for arrests with the help of video evidence. Anyone with information is urged to contact SFPD at 415-575-4444.
