Last USS Arizona Survivor Dies At 102

The last living survivor of the Japanese attack on the USS Arizona in Pearl Harbor has died. Lou Conter died Monday in Grass Valley, California according to KCRA and his family. Conter was 18 when he enlisted in the Navy and was at his post on the morning of December 7th, 1941, when Japanese bombers targeted the Arizona and dozens of other ships at port.

After surviving the attack, Conter went to flight school and later flew with the “Black Cats,” the first U.S. version of a stealth bomber. Lou Conter was 102 years old.

Conter’s last in-person visit to Pearl Harbor was in 2019. He will be laid to rest next to his late wife in California.
