A majority of California voters support showing proof of citizenship to cast a ballot. A new poll from the U.C. Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies poll which was co-sponsored by the L.A. Times shows 71-percent of those polled say first-time voters should show proof of citizenship. This includes 59-percent of Democrats and 95-percent of Republicans. A proposal that seeks proof-of-citizenship every time a voter casts a ballot also has majority support, with 54-percent approving. This includes 88-percent of Republicans and about 40-percent of Democrats.
