Kaiser Permanente is planning to pause gender-reassignment surgeries for patients under the age of 19. According to a statement from the health care provider, the decision was made in response to the federal government targeting hospitals, clinics and doctors that provide gender-affirming care. However, Kaiser said it will continue to provide all of its other gender treatments besides surgery to transgender adolescents. The pause on surgeries is set to go in effect on August 29th.
