San Diego Navy Sailor Convicted Of Spying For Chinese Government

A jury has convicted a Navy sailor of spying for the Chinese government in San Diego. Jinchao Wei was assigned to the USS Essex when he was arrested at Naval Base San Diego in 2023. He was convicted on six federal counts of taking thousands of dollars to send photos and videos of the ship to a Chinese contact. Wei could get life in prison when he is sentenced in December.
