The FBI is investigating an attempted firebombing at the federal building in downtown Los Angeles. Firefighters were called to the federal building at about 8:30 Monday morning. Someone reportedly dropped off or threw a Molotov-cocktail-type device near the front of the building. According to KTLA, authorities arrested Jose Francisco Jovel, 54, of Los Angeles, in connection with the federal building firebombing.
The man accused of bringing the item to the building was detained, with federal criminal charges expected to be filed today. Authorities are investigating a possible connection between this incident and an arson fire at an apartment building in the Koreatown area earlier in the day. The apartment is reportedly the home of the man who was arrested at the federal building.
