The California DMV is delaying a plan to revoke about 17,ooo commercial driver’s licenses belonging to migrants. Officials extend the deadline by 60 days to March 6th, following a lawsuit filed last week by immigrant groups. The DMV says affected drivers will receive letters notifying them of the extension. State officials say the delay is intended to allow more time to find a solution that keeps CDL holders, including truck and bus drivers, working in California.
U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy is responded to the extension. In an X post, Duffy says “the deadline to revoke illegally issued, unvetted foreign trucker licenses is still January 5th.” He also says Governor Gavin Newsom is “lying,” adding that California does not have an extension “to keep breaking the law and putting Americans at risk on the roads.”
Gavin Newsom is lying. The deadline to revoke illegally issued, unvetted foreign trucker licenses is still January 5.
California does NOT have an “extension” to keep breaking the law and putting Americans at risk on the roads.
Miss the deadline, Gavin, and the @USDOT will act —…
