Donald Trump pushed back on CBS News correspondent Norah O’Donnell and 60 Minutes Sunday after she read from a manifesto allegedly written by the suspect in the White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting.
Authorities identified the suspect as 31-year-old Cole Allen of Torrance, California, saying he outlined his plans in a manifesto and posted anti-Trump and anti-Christian rhetoric online. During the interview, O’Donnell cited passages referencing a rapist and a pedophile while pressing Trump for a response.
Trump to pushed back on O’Donnell down, saying, “I was waiting for you to read that because I knew you would because you’re horrible people. … Yeah, he did write that. I’m not a rapist. I didn’t rape anybody.” “I read the manifesto. You know, he’s a sick person. But you should be ashamed of yourself reading that because I’m not any of those things.” President Trump told her she “shouldn’t be reading that on ’60 Minutes,'” adding: “You’re a disgrace. But go ahead. Let’s finish the interview. … you’re disgraceful.”
President Trump also highlighted his past clash with 60 Minutes, noting that Paramount Global paid a $16 million settlement after he sued over an edited interview with Kamala Harris. “‘60 Minutes’ was forced to pay me a lot of money because they took [Harris’] answer out that was so bad,” Trump said.
