California’s high-speed rail project is facing new challenges as costs continue to rise. This week, the High-Speed Rail Authority delayed a vote on its updated business plan, raising concerns about transparency. Some state lawmakers are renewing calls for the project to be canceled. The project, which voters approved in 2008 with an estimated cost of 33 to 45 billion dollars, is now expected to cost over 230 billion.
