Los Angeles officials say police have made significant progress in cracking down on a recent surge in burglaries across the city. Mayor Karen Bass and law enforcement leaders announced during a press conference that more than 100 burglary-related arrests have been made within the last 30 days. Authorities said many of those arrests are connected to organized crime groups that have been targeting homes, businesses, and neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles. Officials added that several suspects currently in custody are believed to be tied to a South American burglary syndicate that investigators say is responsible for at least 25 residential break-ins. City leaders emphasized that the investigation remains active as detectives continue working to identify additional suspects and prevent future crimes. The announcement comes just three weeks before Bass faces a primary election, with public safety and the growing number of burglaries becoming major concerns among voters across the city and surrounding communities lately.
