A permit application has been filed to rebuild the Lineage Logistics warehouse in Boyle Heights. It comes with the company only about halfway done removing rotting food from the burned cold food storage warehouse. The application to repair and rebuild the property to pre-fire conditions was filed with the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety. It has not yet been approved. Mayor Karen Bass was recently asked about the possibility of the warehouse being rebuilt and declined to “go there at all in terms of whether or not they rebuild.” Councilmember Ysabel Jurado, whose district includes Boyle Heights, calls it “outrageous” that Lineage is seeking permits to rebuild before cleanup efforts are finished. Xavier Becerra, who is running for governor, says rebuilding the facility would be a “grave mistake.”
