Authorities are investigating after two sets of human remains were discovered Saturday in separate locations across Monterey County. Sheriff’s deputies were first called to an area near Moss Landing in North Monterey County, where they found what investigators later determined were the remains of a deceased infant. About an hour later, county employees reported finding a second set of human remains in Salinas. Investigators have not released any information about the identity, age, or circumstances surrounding the second discovery. The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office says it is working to determine how both individuals died and whether the two cases are connected. At this time, officials say there is no confirmation that the discoveries are related, and both investigations remain active. Authorities are asking anyone with information that could assist detectives to contact the Sheriff’s Office as investigators continue processing evidence and awaiting results from forensic examinations and identification efforts.
