Gas prices jumped again overnight, with AAA reporting today’s national average at four dollars and 46 cents a gallon for regular unleaded. That’s up three cents from yesterday and 40 cents from where prices stood just one month ago. Drivers in California are paying the most, as usual, with the statewide average now at six dollars and 11 cents a gallon. No other state has an average price above six dollars. AAA is also reporting record-high diesel prices nationwide, with the average reaching six dollars and 44 cents a gallon today. That’s up five cents from Thursday. The latest increase comes as drivers continue to face higher costs at the pump, with gasoline prices rising sharply over the past month. California drivers are being hit particularly hard, paying well above the national average for both regular gasoline and diesel. Experts say prices can vary significantly by state, region and gas station.
