A 4.3 magnitude earthquake shook the San Francisco Bay Area early Monday just before three in the morning. It was centered in Berkeley a few blocks from UC Berkeley. It’s the strongest quake in three years, but there were no major damage reports. An aftershock of 2.6 magnitude followed at 8:01 a.m. The U.S. Geological Survey indicates a four percent chance of another quake of magnitude four or stronger in the next week. Still, officials say there is less than one percent chance of it reaching magnitude five. The quake occurred near the Hayward fault, one of the most concerning in the Bay Area. Its last major earthquake was in 1868 that measured 7.0.
