Shots were fired last night at Coast Guard Island in the San Francisco Bay area where U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents moved in. In video obtained by KPIX, law enforcement officers shot at a U-Haul truck that tried to back into the Coast Guard base.
This came shortly after a protest against federal immigration agents arriving in the region. The incident happened around 10 p.m. No Coast Guard personnel were injured. The driver of the vehicle was told to stop multiple times but continued to reverse, prompting officers to fire their weapons. The driver was shot in the stomach and is being held for a mental health evaluation. A bystander was struck by a fragment and treated at a hospital and released.
