A semitruck driver accused of causing a deadly DUI crash on the 10 Freeway in Ontario was in the U.S. illegally. The Department of Homeland Security says 21-year-old Jashanpreet Singh is an Indian national who entered the country through the U.S.-Mexico border in 2022. Singh was living in Yuba City. Singh did not have a valid driver’s license to operate a commercial vehicle in California. The eight-vehicle pileup happened on Tuesday afternoon. Three people were killed and four others were hospitalized with minor to major injuries. Singh is accused of driving under the influence of drugs causing bodily injury and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. He remains behind bars without bail.
The Trump administration says Sing was given a commercial driver’s license by the state of California and the Feds blame Gavin Newsom. He’s been in asylum proceedings for three years starting during the Biden Administration. The Trump administration says Newsom ignored a recent White House order to revoke these types of drivers licenses.
