Governor Gavin Newsom touted California as a national leader during his final state of the state address. He spoke to the state legislature about alleged progress made in education, childcare, crime reduction, fighting homelessness and building infrastructure. Newsom called the federal government “unrecognizable” and accused critics of having “California derangement syndrome.” Today, Newsom is presenting a 248-point-three-billion-dollar budget to the state legislature. He will ask for a five-year extension of the film and tax credit program. He also claims revenues are 42-point-three-billion dollars higher than initially projected.
