A poll funded by the California Democratic Party shows Republicans holding the top two spots in the race for governor. Evitarus Research surveyed two-thousand likely voters. The poll, released Tuesday, shows Republican commentator Steve Hilton leading with the support of 16% of likely voters. Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco is polling second best, with 14% support. Hilton has been calling on Sheriff Bianco to drop out of the race to unify the Republican vote in his favor. Three Democrats are in a dead heat. Congressman Eric Swalwell, former Representative Katie Porter and billionaire environmental activist Tom Steyer each have 10% support. Earlier this month, California Democratic Party Chairman Rusty Hicks sent an open letter urging lower polling Democratic candidates to drop out of the race.
