Eight candidates who each want to be California’s next governor debated last night in the Southland. The CBS News broadcast took place at Pomona College in Claremont. Unlike last week’s debate, Tuesday’s event featured more verbal sparring between the candidates. It also had more people. Even though they’re polling below five percent, the debate included former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond. Many of the candidates engaged in spirited discussion about homelessness, wildfires, and gas prices.
