A man accused of trying to board a plane at Sacramento International Airport with an explosive and five cellphones has been charged. On Tuesday, Kimani Osayande Jones was charged with unlawfully possessing explosive material in an airport. If convicted, he faces up to five years behind bars. The 49-year-old was arrested last Saturday night, after trying to board an American Airlines flight to Charlotte, North Carolina. Prosecutors say he was waring a scarf around his face and blue latex gloves. TSA agents then looked inside his backpack, and allegedly found a knife, other bladed weapons, zip ties, a butane torch lighter and a homemade explosive device. Painter’s tape was covering the front cameras of each of the five cellphones. One of the phones had a 15-minute timer ready to start and another displayed a message from an unknown number that said “we will be awaiting your call.”
