A suspect is in custody following the brutal assault of a street vendor in downtown Los Angeles. Police have not yet released the suspect’s identity but say they believe the person arrested is the same individual seen in a widely shared video attacking a hot dog vendor on June 15. The disturbing footage shows the vendor being repeatedly beaten, sparking outrage across the community and on social media. Since the attack, thousands of people have rallied around the victim, helping a GoFundMe campaign raise more than $118,000 to assist with medical bills and lost income. The victim, Arabelia Martinez, remains at home recovering from the injuries she suffered during the assault. Supporters continue to send messages of encouragement as she heals. Authorities have not released additional details about the arrest or potential charges, but the investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue gathering evidence related to the violent attack.
