One person is dead and four others are injured after a car crashed into a group of shoppers at a Los Angeles grocery store. The Los Angeles Police Department says the collision happened Thursday afternoon in the parking lot of a Trader Joe’s in the Fairfax District. Authorities say a 91-year-old woman was driving a Tesla when the vehicle struck multiple pedestrians. A woman in her 30s was among those hit and was pronounced dead at the scene. Four other people were injured in the crash, including a 19-year-old who suffered serious injuries. The other victims’ conditions have not been released. The driver was also taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries described as non-life-threatening. Police are investigating what caused the Tesla to suddenly accelerate or veer into the crowd. Authorities have not indicated whether any charges have been filed against the driver as the investigation continues.
