The residents and owners of a West Oakland affordable apartment complex named for the Black Panther party are suing the San Francisco Police Department over a raid there in May. Attorney Adante Pointer says they want answers. The lawsuit alleges that about 20 plainclothes San Francisco police officers smashed through the front door of The Black Panther Apartments back on May 21st, refusing to identify themselves. It claims they then pushed a resident manager when she asked to see their warrant before searching an apartment. Police had earlier arrested an 18-year-old man outside the building in connection with two robberies. In addition, the suit alleges officers had the building under surveillance using its Wi-Fi. San Francisco police so far have not commented.
