Azusa officials are accusing Los Angeles Metro and the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department of dumping passengers in the city overnight. Residents say Metro’s A Line stops before reaching its final destination at the APU-Citrus College station. They report seeing deputies escorting passengers off trains during the early morning hours. One resident has been documenting the activity with photos and videos since March. Some residents believe the practice is contributing to an increase in crime in their neighborhoods. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirms deputies clear trains in Azusa to prepare for overnight maintenance work. However, the A Line’s eastern terminus is farther down the tracks in Pomona. Metro says the practice is not limited to the A Line, explaining that two other rail lines also stop short of their final stations overnight. Azusa officials are raising concerns about the impact on residents and public safety as questions grow over the overnight train operations.
