A new audit issues a scathing review of homeless services in Los Angeles. The City Controller’s Office completed a five-year audit of the L.A. Homeless Services Authority and found that only one in five people who entered city-funded interim housing were able to find a bed. But the Controller’s office says, more alarming than that, over half of the people who exited the system returned to homelessness, and one in four beds went unused, costing taxpayers an estimated 218 million dollars.
