One of the strongest earthquakes recorded in history is responsible for causing Tsunami waves to reach U.S. Shores. The magnitude 8.8 quake off of Russia’s far eastern coast resulted in tsunami alerts to be sent out. Evacuations were ordered in Hawaii ahead of the wave arriving last night but the orders have since been lifted. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said the threat of a “major” tsunami has passed. Officials say that currents can remain dangerous for days after a tsunami.
