Firefighters are making progress battling the nearly 49-hundred-acre Canyon Fire. The fire was completely uncontained at sunrise, and by 10:30 Friday morning, crews had achieved 25% containment. They accomplished this in brutal heat and low humidity. The fire started early yesterday afternoon near Lake Piru and spread east toward Castaic. The outer edge of the wildfire is moving laterally to the Arroyo Grande area. Several mandatory evacuation zones have been set up.
