Oakland’s Former Police Chief Says He Was Unfairly Fired

Oakland’s former top cop says he was unfairly fired. Former Police Chief LaRonne Armstrong spoke Monday about the audit of a federal monitor report that led to his firing earlier this year.

Armstrong says he feels vindicated given that the audit found issues with how he was terminated and suggests he should be considered for reinstatement.

Armstrong had been placed on paid leave back in January and ultimately was terminated after a federal report questioned his response regarding the misconduct of one of his sergeants in 2021. Armstrong had long said he did nothing wrong.
