Most Americans support Israel’s military response to Hamas. A Wall Street Journal poll shows that 55-percent of respondents say they think Israel is taking necessary action to defend itself after Hamas’s attack in October. Meanwhile, one in four said Israel’s actions are going too far.

The survey also found that Americans are more likely to sympathize with Israelis over Palestinians. While one in three said they sympathize equally with both sides, over 40-percent say they side more with Israeli people and only 12-percent said they sympathize more with Palestinians.

Political party is a big indicator of that number, with only two-percent of Republicans saying they side more with Palestinians compared to 17-percent of Democrats.
