Governor Newsom is accusing former President Donald Trump of “open corruption.”

While speaking Thursday at a climate summit at the Vatican, Newsom criticized Trump for reportedly asking fossil fuel executives to donate one-billion dollars to his presidential campaign.  Newsom said Trump openly asked them for money to “pollute our states, to pollute our country, and to pollute this planet.”

The governor also touted California’s efforts on clean energy.  Researchers and policy makers from around the world are attending the conference, which is being hosted by Pope Francis.
