Hundreds of New York police officers, many clad in riot gear, reportedly raided Columbia University’s campus Tuesday night in the latest standoff between the university and anti-Israel student protesters.
The protesters are demanding the university divest itself from companies profiting from Israel’s war against Iranian-backed Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip.
Students yelled “shame,” the Columbia Spectator student newspaper reported, as officers gathered around the front entrance of Hamilton Hall, where earlier in the day students smashed their way into the historic building and barricaded themselves inside. Chants of “NYPD, KKK, IOF, they’re all the same” also arose.
