Gypsy Rose Blanchard, the young woman who killed her mother, was released from prison on Thursday.

Blanchard was set to serve a 10-year sentence but was released after seven years of service.

The case, which had inspired documentaries and TV shows, saw Blanchard conspire with her boyfriend to kill her abusive mother, Dee Dee.

Dee Dee reportedly convinced her daughter that she was disabled and had medical conditions such as epilepsy and muscular dystrophy.

Despite being healthy, Blanchard was forced to use a wheelchair and oxygen tank and received support from charities.

“I wanted to be free of her hold on me,” she said during the 2015 trial of her boyfriend. “I talked him into it.”
