Golden Gate Bridge Toll to Increase Next Five Years

Get ready to pay more to cross the Golden Gate Bridge.  A five-year plan to increase the toll 50-cents each year was approved Friday and begins in July.

The Highway and Transportation District says it’s facing a 220-million-dollar shortfall, and this new program will bring in more than half of that.

Most of the toll revenue is used to maintain and operate the bridge, with the rest for bus and ferry transit services.
