California Earthquake and Taiwan Earthquake Merely Coincidence

YouTube, @NBC Bay Area.

The earthquakes that hit Santa Rosa and Taiwan on Tuesday were merely a coincidence. The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude 7.4 earthquake in Taiwan and the magnitude 3.0 earthquake felt in Santa Rosa a few hours later were not connected.

The USGS says earthquakes, especially larger ones, can trigger smaller ones nearby. But the distance between Santa Rosa and Taiwan is too far for that to have been the case.
