Special Counsel Jack Smith is calling on the Supreme Court to deny former President Trump’s immunity claim.  In a brief filed Monday, Smith also urged the high court to deny Trump’s attempt to delay his federal election interference case based on the claim.

The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear arguments on April 25th about Trump’s claim that he is immune from prosecution.

Smith argued Trump’s claim has no Constitutional grounding saying, “The Framers never endorsed criminal immunity for a former President.”  A decision from the Supreme Court is expected to be issued by July.
