Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani’s longtime interpreter is federally charged with bank fraud for allegedly stealing 16 million dollars from him.  The U.S. Attorney in Los Angeles, Martin Estrada, made the announcement on Thursday.

Estrada said Ippei Mizuhara made unauthorized bank transfers from Ohtani’s account from late 2021 to January of this year.  The interpreter is accused of using his relationship with the Japanese star to fund his gambling addiction.

Federal investigators have cleared Ohtani of any wrongdoing.
