Sac DA Supports Bill to Address Mental Health Diversion in Attempted Murder Cases

Sacramento’s District Attorney is throwing his support behind legislation that addresses mental health diversion in attempted murder cases.  D-A Thien Ho joined bill author Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen of Elk Grove to discuss the legislation which they believe will help ensure public safety by adding attempted murder to the list of crimes ineligible for mental health diversion.

It closes a loophole where current law allows defendants with a mental health disorder and charged with murder to complete mental health treatment without serving time.

Under the bill, they say no one will get away with attempted murder and be released into the community without being held accountable.
